Children's Summer Classes

Grow with Gardening

For children entering grades 3-5 

Thursdays, 9am – 11am

June 12, 19, 26 and

July 3, 10, 17 and 24

Max: 12 students

Cost: $105 (7 sessions)

Children will map out, plan and plant a garden at Venetucci Farm. Garden-based activities will include learning about seeds, soils and compost and helping the farmers with daily farm chores – like collecting eggs and feeding the chickens! Children will return for a Saturday morning in September to harvest late-season produce and cook up a few garden treats.

Instructor - Dyan del Gaudio

Gardener/Educator/Artist. Dyan has been an organic grower for over 25 years. She has taught and developed children’s classes for the Phoenix Desert Botanical Garden, Santa
Fe elementary schools, and Colorado Springs 4-H.

Farm Camp

Section A: Ages 5-7
M, W, F 10:30am – 12:30pm.

July 7, 9 and 11

Help out with farm chores at Venetucci Farm! Feed the animals, collect eggs, work in the vegetable garden, talk to the farmers, and tour the farm on a horse drawn wagon.  After the work is done, we'll take a break to make healthy treats and work on a variety of garden-related craft projects.

MORE OPPORTUNITIES ...

Seasonal Classes will be offered to the public, school groups and organizations. Topics including: “How to Prepare Your Soil”, “Building and Using Season Extending Methods for Extra Early, Extra Abundant Harvest”, “Growing Great Garlic”, “Growing Colorful and Healthful Salads”, “Composting for the Beginners” and more. 

Cooking Classes: Parents and children can learn how to harvest and prepare nutritious and healthful meals and snacks. Participants will learn where their food comes from by going into the fields to harvest what they will be cooking. One of our classes will be for the daring but reluctant vegetable eaters titled, “I Dare You to Eat That”.

Tours: Both self-guided and guided tours can be scheduled. Arrange to have your family, school group or organization come visit a working farm.  This historic farm is now producing fresh, local vegetables free of chemicals.

School Field Trips: Learn about sustainable farming, composting, raised bed backyard gardening and more. Each field trip will be activity oriented, age appropriate and designed to meet State Standards. Ask us about customizing a field trip specific to your needs.
